25 Manga/Manhwa/Webtoon that you should definitely read now

Manga, Manhwa and Webtoons, is there any better way to spend your free time than just lying around all day and reading them? I for one can't think of a better thing to do. I actually kind of blame them for my lack of social life nowadays but what else can I do when they're so good?

Recently, I have made a top 5 list of the shoujo manga that I recommend but it has come to my attention that most of you guys have already read them so that's not much help is it? So as for compensation, I've decided to make this list of top 25 manga, manhwa and webtoon that I think you'll all enjoy. As usual, i've included the status, the genre, the plot and just my few words. Again, they are not in any particular order, just wrote them down randomly. Feel free to comment and recommend ones which I haven't been able to put in this list yet. Enjoy! 

1. Akatsuki no Yona

STATUS: ongoing

GENRE: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Harem, Historical,Psychological, Romance, Shoujo

PLOT:Yona is the sole princess of the kingdom, living the luxurious and carefree life as a princess should. She has it all: the finest clothes and cosmetics, the most divine sweets, a loving emperor as a father, and the hottest cousin crush, Soo-won, anyone could ever hope to have. Now, if only her bodyguard, Son Hak, wasn't so annoying to her and her hair wasn't so red.

But her nearly perfect world quickly shatters as the man she loves, Soo-won, murders her father and the path to his ascension to the throne is assured. Son Hak escapes with Yona, and they lead a life on the run from that point on.

MY FEW WORDS: The best! Absolutely the best! I've finished reading 100 chapters of this within one day because I love everything about this manga. Betrayal, love, adventure, action and the character growth, are few of the many things which make this manga awesome. Plus it has hot guys, so what's not to love?

2. Dame na Watashi ni Koishite Kudasai

STATUS:ongoing

GENRE: Comedy, Josei, Romance, Slice Of Life

PLOT: The unemployed Shibata Michiko is betting everything she has on her romance with a younger man—literally. In order to keep him happy, she deprives herself of the things she wants and buys him expensive clothing and accessories. Since she's flat out broke, she needs to find a job before she starves to death and loses her young love interest. However, Michiko discovers that the boy was never interested in her romantically. Depressed at being dumped and after a series of unsuccessful interviews, she bumps into Kurosawa—an intimidating former boss she used to dislike.

MY FEW WORDS: Adorable! At first, I was so pissed at Shibata's character but grew to love her as I read through the chapters and all the more I want her to find her happiness. She's relatable, adorable and quirky and then there's Kurosawa. Kurosawa's character is unlike other lead guys which makes him interesting and he's cute too! (I don't know if cute's the right word though) This manga is a light read which would make you laugh like all its characters throughout the chapters.

3. Kimi ni Koishite Desu Ka

STATUS:ongoing

GENRE: Genres: Romance, Shoujo

PLOT: Chigira Ruiji is a man born with the face of a demon. Trouble follows him wherever he goes. However, he just wants to live a normal high school life and make some friends, and even fall in love.

MY FEW WORDS: This manga is unique, sweet and adorable. Ruiji as a lead is unlike all the other lead guys in other mangas, he's sweet and kind but tends to fend off others due to his tough appearance, and he wants to fall in love which makes him all the more adorable. I just can't help smiling while reading this manga and that is one of the reasons why you should definitely give this one a go too!

4. Nijiiro Days by Mizuno Minami

STATUS: ongoing

GENRE: Comedy, Romance, School Life, Shoujo, Slice Of Life

PLOT: Natsuki is teased for being a hopeless romantic, Keiichi disguises his sadistic personality with a constant angelic grin, Tsuyoshi is an otaku who can't read the atmosphere, and Tomoya is a frivolous playboy who likes his archenemy — these four boys are the best of friends who spend their high school life with easygoing spirit. However, certain inevitable but hilarious events might pop their happy bubble.

MY FEW WORDS: Four cute guys with different personalities in one manga? Must read!  No more words needed. 

5. Namaikizakari

STATUS: ongoing

GENRE: Romance, School Life, Shoujo, Sports

PLOT: Upon first sight Machida Yuki knows that she doesn’t want anything to do with Naruse Shou, but how can she keep her cool when he is a part of the basketball club she manages?

MY FEW WORDS: Why should you read this manga? One word, Naruse. He's hot, honest and really vocal about his feelings for Yuki plus the art and the story is really cute too! Reading this will make you feel all giddy inside. 

6. Ojousama wa Oyomesama

STATUS: ongoing

GENRE: Comedy, Drama, Romance, Shoujo

PLOT: Towako the ojousama (daughter of a high class family) will be turning 18 years old soon. When she was very young, she was told that on this 18th birthday she is to marry the young man who was born on the same day, the same time, and the same year as she was. However, during their first meeting, Yuuga was incredibly mean to her! What’s Towako to do when her husband-to-be is the shy and cool type of guy?

MY FEW WORDS: I absolutely love this one with its story and characters who are just too cute. The art is beautiful too! 

7. Relife (Webtoon)

STATUS: ongoing

GENRE: Comedy, Drama, Romance, School Life, Shounen, Slice Of Life

PLOT: The story follows Kaizaki Arata, a 27-year-old jobless man who fails at every job interview he had after quitting his last company which he only lasted at for three months. His life changes after meeting Yoake Ryou of the ReLife Research Institute, who offers him a drug that can change his appearance to 17-years-old again and to become a subject in a one-year experiment in which he begins his life as a high school student again.

MY FEW WORDS: This webtoon deals with serious topics but all while still having a comedic side. Its concept is new and engaging while its characters are just interesting. Up to now, I still can't predict how this one would end and what the secrets are behind the relife experiment and it posts updates quickly too so thats a major bonus.

8. Seishun Otome Banchou

STATUS: ongoing

GENRE: Comedy, Romance, School Life, Shoujo

        

PLOT:  Hirata Mihane has a scary face and isn't ladylike at all. In fact, she lets her temper get the better of her and often lets out small bursts of violent behaviour—even though she doesn't mean to. Because of this, the entire school calls her a "Satsujinki" (murderous monster). Even so, she's in love with the kind and popular Touma-kun, who doesn't mind the way she looks and is always nice to her. But... will Touma ever see her as a love interest?

MY FEW WORDS: When I first read this, I couldn't stop laughing and had to stop here and there to take a couple of screenshot to share with my friends because every chapters is hilarious. It's cute and hilarious all at the same time and i'm waiting for more character development so i'm really excited for the next updates. 

9. Soredomo Seka Wa Utsukushii

STATUS: ongoing

GENRE: Adventure, Fantasy, Romance,Shoujo

PLOT: Nike, the fourth princess of the Rain Dukedom and one who holds the power to call forth the rain, travels to the Sun Kingdom to marry Sun King Livius for her country, despite her own reluctance. She soon discovers that the King, who conquered the world in only three years after his ascendance to the throne, is still a child! Furthermore, for trivial reasons, he has demanded that Nike call forth the rain...?!

MY FEW WORDS: At fiyrst I was hesitant to read this since it said that the lead guy who is only a child is engaged to be married to a princess who's older than him but I gave it a chance and I'm glad I did. I love the story of this manga and as it turns out, the guy is only two years younger than Nike so no big deal there. The art is beautiful, the characters are interesting and the character growth is great too. 

10. Winter Woods (Webtoon)

STATUS: ongoing

GENRE: Drama, Fantasy, Josei, Psychological, Romance, Seinen, Shounen,Slice Of Life, Supernatural, Webtoons

PLOT: A colorful fairytale-like story of Winter, who wants to become a living human and Jane, who wants to become a best selling fairytale author.

MY FEW WORDS: Yep, I know that the guy at that picture looks scary but he has his reasons and he won't look like that for the entirety of the story. Since the plot doesn't say alot, let me summarize this for you. So Winter, the main guy and that scary looking guy up right there, is not a human or atleast he is a remains of what humans used to be. He has already lived for hundreds of years, without knowing emotions or what being human is like until scientist found him from where he was staying. They did experiments to him on a daily basis but then decided to let him go, this is where he found Jane and thus, the story begins. This story is a little different from all the ones in this list but still great nonetheless. 

11. Ouji-sama ni wa Doku ga aru

STATUS: ongoing

GENRE: Comedy  Romance  School Life  Shoujo

PLOT: Rizu has been taking care of Souta since they were young believing he is "cute Souta, who can't do anything by himself". But what happens when Rizu lessens her Motherly-like duties to pursue other activities? Cute Souta might do something about that.

MY FEW WORDS: This one just started but Souta is so cute and Naru is so clueless about him (actually being not cute at all but just pretending and all that) that I just had to include it in this list. 

12. Tonari no atashi

STATUS: Completed

GENRE: Comedy, Drama, Romance, School Life, Shoujo

PLOT: Nina's neighbor, Kyousuke, is starting high school while she's still stuck in junior high. Just walking to their nearby schools together isn't enough for her--especially since they keep running into Yuiko: a beautiful, outgoing girl in Kyousuke's grade who also seems to harbor feelings for Nina's next-door neighbor.

MY FEW WORDS: I love this one and I also love how it ended. The art nd the characters are cute as well. I don't think I have to say more since you guys have probably read this already and know how nice this one is.

13. Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden

STATUS: Completed

GENRE: Adventure, Drama, Fantasy, Gender Bender, Historical, Romance,Shoujo, Tragedy

PLOT: When schoolgirl Takiko Okuda attempts to destroy her father's translation of The Universe of the Four Gods, she is instead literally sucked into the story, becoming the Priestess of Genbu in an epic journey to find the seven Celestial Warriors!

MY FEW WORDS: There are only a few manga stories that I loved so much as to re-read them and this one makes the list. I love this more than I did the Fushigi Yuugi mysterious play (which I didn't include in the list since this one beat it for the place) , and that is saying alot since that is the manga that started it all for me. This one has a stronger female lead and a more appealing ending for me. 

14. Tsuki no Shippo

STATUS: Completed

GENRE: Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Ecchi, Historical, Martial Arts,Romance, Shoujo

PLOT: Sometimes it seems like Usagi is hopeless. Sure, she's good with healing herbs, but she's the granddaughter of the leader of a prestigious ninja village and she's such a klutz that she's never made it out of the kiddie class. Finally frustrated with Usagi's lack of progress, her grandfather sends her to marry a local lord and have lots of ninja babies. But the lord has no interest in her or her child bearing potential! After years of goofing around, Usagi is finally determined to reach her goals - she's going to become a ninja and capture her true love's heart!

MY FEW WORDS: This one's adorable, the ending felt a little rushed but the story, the art and the characters are all well done. This manga is everything you'll look for in a lighthearted story since it's funny, cute and romantic (+++ the hot guys ). 

15. Power!!

STATUS: Completed

GENRE: Comedy, Gender Bender, Romance, Shoujo, Slice Of Life, Sports

PLOT: Kyo Aizawa's father is a basketball devotee but has been forced to quit playing his precious sport because of an injury. Instead of himself working his way up to the NBA, he feels that Kyo, his daughter should fulfill his dream. To give Kyo a good start in her career of basketball he enrolls her in Seishu High School which is known for two things: its extremely cute girls' uniforms and their boys' basketball team. Not only does unhappy Kyo have to pretend to be a boy during the day (the basketball team members all live at the school to boost the team spirit), she has to do it day and night. The super-star of the team, Chiharu Eniwa, may be a good-looking, basketball champion, but his attitude towards Kyo is hostile from their very first meeting. Poor Kyo ends up roommates with the evil Chiharu. As they get to know one another, both sense that the other has a secret.

MY FEW WORDS: The art is a bit old for this one but the comedy makes up for it. This one is so lighthearted, funny and adorable. 

16. Gekkan Shoujo Nozaku-kun

STATUS: ongoing

GENRE: Comedy, Romance, School Life

PLOT: Sakura Chiyo confesses to her crush, Nozaki-kun, but he mistakes her as a fan! Unable to convey her feelings, what happens when he invites her to his house? Find out in this hilarious series!

MY FEW WORDS: This one is not much of a romance manga but one thing's for sure, it can make you laugh until your tummy hurts. The comedy in this one is just so strong that I think they should just remove romance from the genre and just make it a comedy, school life manga instead. 

17. Mairunovich

STATUS: Completed

GENRE: Comedy, Drama, Romance, School Life, Shoujo

PLOT: Kinoshita Mairu has a cute name and she's apologetic for it, because she's ugly. In fact, she's apologetic for her very existence because she's not cute. Classmates call her "Poison Mushroom" behind her back and even her own brother treats her with disdain. However, all of that is about to change with the help of her transvestite mentor/neighbor, Fuwari-chan, and the "school king," Kumada Tenyuu!

MY FEW WORDS: Character development on Mairu's part is superb, the art is gorgeous, hot guys, master Tenyuu, funny characters are all in this one so what's not to love? 

18. Hajimari no Niina

STATUS: Completed

GENRE: Drama, Romance, Shoujo, Slice Of Life, Supernatural

PLOT: 10-year old Niina is special. This is because she has the memories of her past life as a girl named Chitose still intact. Among these memories is a promise with Chitose's boyfriend which Niina then decides to try and fulfill. But can she really?

MY FEW WORDS: The age gap in this one is quite huge (dont worry though, it doesn't border on child abuse or anything of the sort) but the characters and the story itself is still great. The story is touching and can make your heart flutter and the art is beautiful too.

19. Pinocchio (Manhwa)

STATUS: Completed

GENRE: Comedy, Drama, Romance, School Life, Shoujo, Supernatural,Webtoons

PLOT: Pinocchio is about an average high school girl, Choi Ha Ram, who suddenly meets a ghost while is the only one able to see him! Little do we know about this ghost besides his name Yu Ga On and the fact that he is thought to be dead… The encounter with the ghost seems to be a huge turnover in her average life and to top it off a new neighbour comes along to add more excitement in her life.

MY FEW WORDS: Sweet, funny, and adorable characters plus its really interesting plot, those are a few of the many reasons why you should read this one. 

20. Haru X Kiyo

STATUS: Ongoing

GENRE: Comedy, Romance, School Life, Shoujo

PLOT: Although Koharu is a little taller than the average person. She's a 15-year-old girl who lives a much simpler life than the average person. Having no experience with love, she thought she'd spend her days peacefully with her group of ordinary friends. However, a destined encounter will change Koharu...!!

MY FEW WORDS: This one has just started but it somehow reminds me of lovely complex so I read it and its so nice that I had to put it in this list. I'm hoping to read about how their love and life unfolds on the following chapters, you should give this a chance too if you're looking for something light, funny and quite romantic.

21. Honey by Meguro Amu

STATUS: Ongoing

GENRE: Comedy, Romance, School Life, Shoujo, Slice Of Life

PLOT: Clumsily, he panicked and hid the flower bouquet behind his back...

This is what happens one day when ordinary girl Kogure Nao is summoned by the scary-looking Onigase-kun. However, she is shocked when he says to her: "Please date me before you marry me!" Nao is too shocked and terrified to say no... what will come of their relationship?

MY FEW WORDS: The guy here, even though he isn't like other shoujo manga leads, is just too sweet, he kind of ruined 3d guys for me. One classic don't judge a book by its cover story.

22. Love Rerun

STATUS: Ongoing

GENRE: Comedy, Drama, Josei, Romance, Slice Of Life

PLOT: Sayaka, a 30-year-old virgin, encounters everything of her first time for the second time?

MY FEW WORDS: The story is interesting for this one. Sayaka, the lead girl, due to having a box fall on the top of her head, loses her memories and she wakes up one day only to be told that she is now living with a guy and that she already changed everything about herself including her style and personality. I want to see how everything unfolds and if they will in fact fall for each other in the end or not. 

23. Shinobi Life

STATUS: Completed

GENRE: Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Historical, Martial Arts, Romance,School Life, Shoujo, Supernatural, Tragedy

PLOT: Many, many years ago, a ninja named Kagetora devoted his life to protecting Princess Beni (”Beni-Hime”). Unfortunately, they were attacked and Kagetora was flung into a lake, and sank to the bottom… And is somehow warped to the future where he sees the princess Beni being kidnapped.
Little does Kagetora know that Beni is not the real princess, but rather her descendant. Beni, on the other hand, thought that Kagetora was just a cosplayer. Beni, the daughter of a rich man has already been kidnapped a hundred times already... But fear not because Kagetora is here. Will Kagetora be able to go back to the past, or will he remain by Beni’s side forever?

MY FEW WORDS: Time travel, hot male lead who is willing to risk his life for the female lead, strong female lead and everything that entangles their lives together are what makes this story interesting. The art is incredible and the story is unique so why not give this one a try?

24. Sensei Kunshu

STATUS: Ongoing

GENRE: Romance, School Life, Shoujo

PLOT: Ayu saw the boy she loves, the handsome teacher Hiromitsu, throwing away a nice girl.
But then, Hiromitsu is treating her so hard... Ayu's real lessons will start!

MY FEW WORDS: I find the way Ayu perseveres to find love really adorable, sometimes bordering on stupid but still adorable. I'm really really looking forward to how their story proceeds just because I can't quite predict how or when he'll actually come to like her and also I like the characters and the story's art. 

25. Arisa

STATUS: Completed

GENRE: Drama, Mystery, Psychological, Romance, School Life, Shoujo

PLOT: For years the rash tomboyish Tsubasa had communicated with her twin through letters. She had formed the idea that the gentle Arisa led a joyful school life. But upon Arisa's sudden suicide attempt, Tsubasa vows to find the reason behind her twin's actions by taking her place at school. But will this supposed joyful life be too much for Tsubasa to handle? What does it have to do with the people disappearing from Arisa's school...

MY FEW WORDS: Who doesn't like a good mystery right? This one's a bit too dramatic towards the end but still good nonetheless.
