25 Manga/Manhwa/Webtoon that you should definitely read now

Manga, Manhwa and Webtoons, is there any better way to spend your free time than just lying around all day and reading them? I for one can't think of a better thing to do. I actually kind of blame them for my lack of social life nowadays but what else can I do when they're so good?
Recently, I have made a top 5 list of the shoujo manga that I recommend but it has come to my attention that most of you guys have already read them so that's not much help is it? So as for compensation, I've decided to make this list of top 25 manga, manhwa and webtoon that I think you'll all enjoy. As usual, i've included the status, the genre, the plot and just my few words. Again, they are not in any particular order, just wrote them down randomly. Feel free to comment and recommend ones which I haven't been able to put in this list yet. Enjoy!

Read these! 5 Must reads - Shoujo Manga edition

So Recently, i've made a list of 5 contemporary romance books must reads and i've decided to make this list as well because why the hell not? Here are 5 shoujo manga that I ultimately love - both art and story. I'd love to add more since I have like tons of shoujo manga to recommend to you guys but i'll leave that to another time, another post. I'll have to categorize and sort everything out first. So here, with their status, genre, plot and again my few words, are the 5 that made my list:

1. Orange By Takano Ichigo

STATUS: Ongoing

GENRE: Drama, Mystery, Romance, School Life, Shoujo, Slice Of Life, Tragedy

PLOT: In the Spring she was 16, Takamiya Naho receives a strange, but detailed letter from herself, ten years in the future. At first she thinks the letter is a prank, but then the things written in the letter actually happen, including the new transfer student that sits next to her in class, Naruse Kakeru. The letter reads just like her diary entries, down to the same characters. It is not till two weeks later, when Kakeru shows back up at school, that Naho finishes the letter. In the letter, her 27-year-old self tells her 16-year-old self that her biggest regret is that Kakeru is no longer with them in the future, and asks her to watch him closely.

MY FEW WORDS: This is a must-read. Every chapter of this manga is so heart-warming, some because of the sweetness and innocence of Naho, some because you just feel sad for the characters but this one is definitely one of the best out there both plot-wise and art-wise. It feels as if you just can't wait to see how the story unfolds every chapter.

College years, what about it? - What each year in college is like

So what about college?

Bidding farewell to your high school life can be really tough, especially to those who have made tons of memorable experiences there. Saying goodbye to your high school friends, crushes (who you may or may not only see during breaks), club activities and even those terror teachers that seems to hate you to the core. Just the idea of starting a new phase in your life is dreadful. Having to start from scratch with everything - new environment, new classmates, new set of people to befriend, clubs, groups and so much more - can shake you up, make you feel scared and excited all at the same time.

This experience proves to be different for everyone, but it will for sure turn out to be fun and memorable too in the end.

"Hi, I'm the guy who reads your e-mail, and also, I love you . . . "

Beth Fremont and Jennifer Scribner-Snyder know that somebody is monitoring their work e-mail. (Everybody in the newsroom knows. It's company policy.) But they can't quite bring themselves to take it seriously. They go on sending each other endless and endlessly hilarious e-mails, discussing every aspect of their personal lives.

Meanwhile, Lincoln O'Neill can't believe this is his job now- reading other people's e-mail. When he applied to be "internet security officer," he pictured himself building firewalls and crushing hackers- not writing up a report every time a sports reporter forwards a dirty joke.
When Lincoln comes across Beth's and Jennifer's messages, he knows he should turn them in. But he can't help being entertained-and captivated-by their stories.

By the time Lincoln realizes he's falling for Beth, it's way too late to introduce himself.

What would he say . . . ?

REVIEW:

I've read this book after reading Fangirl and Eleanor and Park. Some may argue with this but I think among the three books this by far has the best ending, I couldn't think of a better ending for this one book!

Book Review: Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira

Love letters to the dead by Ava Dellaira

It begins as an assignment for English class: Write a letter to a dead person. Laurel chooses Kurt Cobain because her sister, May, loved him. And he died young, just like May did. Soon, Laurel has a notebook full of letters to people like Janis Joplin, Amy Winehouse, Amelia Earhart, Heath Ledger, and more; though she never gives a single one of them to her teacher. She writes about starting high school, navigating new friendships, falling in love for the first time, learning to live with her splintering family. And, finally, about the abuse she suffered while May was supposed to be looking out for her. Only then, once Laurel has written down the truth about what happened to herself, can she truly begin to accept what happened to May. And only when Laurel has begun to see her sister as the person she was; lovely and amazing and deeply flawed; can she begin to discover her own path.

REVIEW:

I first saw this book while browsing for good books on goodreads and I have been excited to buy and read this book for months so when I saw a copy at fullybooked, I bought it even though its a hardbound copy which costs 800+ pesos an amount in which I could've gotten my self three paperback books. I was so excited to read this that I didn't even care that it costs too much because I thought it would be such a great read and the cover is just so pretty.

I was wrong. I didn't end up loving this book at all.

Book Review: If I stay and Where she went by Gayle Forman

IF I STAY

Just listen, Adam says with a voice that sounds like shrapnel.

I open my eyes wide now.
I sit up as much as I can.
And I listen.

Stay, he says.

Choices. Seventeen-year-old Mia is faced with some tough ones: Stay true to her first love—music—even if it means losing her boyfriend and leaving her family and friends behind?

Then one February morning Mia goes for a drive with her family, and in an instant, everything changes. Suddenly, all the choices are gone, except one. And it's the only one that matters.

If I Stay is a heartachingly beautiful book about the power of love, the true meaning of family, and the choices we all make.

WHERE SHE WENT

It's been three years since Mia walked out of Adam's life.

And three years he's spent wondering why.

When their paths cross again in New York City, Adam and Mia are brought back together for one life-changing night.

Adam finally has the opportunity to ask Mia the questions that have been haunting him. But will a few hours in this magical city be enough to lay their past to rest, for good - or can you really have a second chance at first love?

REVIEW:

I wasn't really supposed to read these books and I've in fact been seeing them for years in local bookstores and never really paid any attention to them since the story's a bit too dramatic for my taste. Last month, I saw the trailer of the movie I just really had to buy and read these books and never in my book loving life had I made a better choice.

Book Review: The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy

"They all crossed into forbidden territory. They all tampered with the laws that lay down who should be loved and how. And how much." The year is 1969. In the state of Kerala, on the southernmost tip of India, fraternal twins Esthappen and Rahel fashion a childhood for themselves in the shade of the wreck that is their family. Their lonely, lovely mother, Ammu, (who loves by night the man her children love by day), fled an abusive marriage to live with their blind grandmother, Mammachi (who plays Handel on her violin), their beloved uncle Chacko (Rhodes scholar, pickle baron, radical Marxist, bottom-pincher), and their enemy, Baby Kochamma (ex-nun and incumbent grandaunt). When Chacko's English ex-wife brings their daughter for a Christmas visit, the twins learn that Things Can Change in a Day. That lives can twist into new, ugly shapes, even cease forever, beside their river....

Review: This books is our assigned novel reading for our literature class this term and with that knowledge in mind I have already prepared myself to read the usual 'i-cant-relate-with-it-damn-this-book-is-boring' ideology that always comes to mind whenever I read assigned novels, not to mention that I don't read such genres. I'm usually more inclined to young adult dystopian or contemporary novels but I'm so glad I gave this book a chance and that our professor assigned this to us.

Book Review: How to love by Katie Cotugno

Image

Before: Reena Montero has loved Sawyer LeGrande for as long as she can remember: as natural as breathing, as endless as time. But he's never seemed to notice that Reena even exists until one day, impossibly, he does. Reena and Sawyer fall in messy, complicated love. But then Sawyer disappears from their humid Florida town without a word, leaving a devastated-and pregnant-Reena behind.

After: Almost three years have passed, and there's a new love in Reena's life: her daughter, Hannah. Reena's gotten used to being without Sawyer, and she's finally getting the hang of this strange, unexpected life. But just as swiftly and suddenly as he disappeared, Sawyer turns up again. Reena doesn't want anything to do with him, though she'd be lying if she said Sawyer's being back wasn't stirring something in her. After everything that's happened, can Reena really let herself love Sawyer LeGrande again?

People tend to do crazy stuff when they're in love and often times they act based on their feelings without thinking things over. I think that's what this book is trying to prove.

Foodie Fridays: Le Petit Souffle

So I decided to have a part of my blog be about food, since I love food and I know basically everyone does too right?

Today we decided to go to Le Petit Souffle, one of the tagged "Most instagram worthy restaurants in Manila".

Le Petit Souffle is actually located in Century City Mall Makati. For weeks, I have been bugging my friends to go with me there and finally, my friend, Kath, texted me asking me whether or not we have plans of going out today so I told her yes we do, and that we're going to check out the said place, eat there and go and watch magic mike afterwards. And so taking along our other friend, Jember, with us we started our adventure.

DLSU Frosh tips!

Welcome to Lasalle!

Dear Frosh, welcome to Lasalle!

  1.  Ang LPEP (Lasallian Personal Effectiveness Program) hino-hold yan ng DLSU as a welcoming for you at chance mo na din na makita at makilala ang blockmates mo for the first time kaya wag mahiya at makipag-usap agad. Alam ko may ibang taong nahihirapan mag-open up ka-agad pero lahat naman kayo nahihiya pa in that stage so why not take the first step and start a conversation di ba? (Plus nakilala and naka-close ko bestestestest college friends ko LPEP palang dahil dito sa tip na 'to)
  2. Smile lang ng smile sa LPEP! Hayaan nang mangawit ang pisngi mo, hayaan nang mukha kang super friendly (mas okay yon kesa mukha kang mataray), ang importante you make friends!
  3. Huwag kang mahiyang magtanong sa higher batch, sa LAMBs (if LPEP), sa ibang tao dahil natural lang na may mga bagay ka pang hindi alam at nag-aadjust ka pa sa new environment mo.

Don't Judge a book by its movie

"Don't judge a book by it's cover", we hear that saying again and again, I myself can't stress enough how many times i've heard these words from my parents and other people around me, yet I still do it.
As a bookworm, I am kind of ashamed to admit how often I take one look at a cover of a book and decide to put it down even without reading about it's plot, just because it doesn't appear appealing to me. Not only that, I also get dictated by these book-hypes that the social media enables book lovers to have. However, lately I have found myself dealing with a different bookworm problem. I, now, tend to buy books because of their film-adaptation hypes!

The first incident was right after my friends and I watched 'The Maze Runner'. I was so fascinated by their story, their world, that I bought the whole book set without even looking more into the plot of the actual book, without looking up if they really did follow the books story or  changed a lot of things from it.

I took one look at the boxed-set and I was taken. I mean look at these books. Perfection!
With this, I am not only guilty of judging a book by its cover, but by judging a book by it's movie too.

First post, First impression

Whenever we meet new people we tend to deviate from what or how we usually are around our friends and our families, because we believe that first impression lasts and that we should be able to make a great first impression on others.

Having this in mind, I keep on pondering about things like, what should I post? What should my blog be about? Should I imitate famous blogger in hope of actually getting noticed among all the hundreds and thousands of amazing bloggers out there? It seriously is stressing, having to think about all these things. Thinking about what people want to read, what people want to see, what people would enjoy, can really take the toll out on someone. I wondered why I keep on stressing about these things when the main reason I started this blog is to be able to help relieve me from stress.

After some thinking, and a lot of hours spent on fixing my blog's appearance, the widgets that i'd be using, the codes and those kinds of stuff, I realized that I should just blog about what I want, things that I enjoy, things that I like, things that I love. Doing this would not only relieve me of stressing out about what I should or should not write and blog about, but it would also (hopefully) be able to show how passionate I am about things, about life.

I decided with the name 'euphoric thoughts' as I came across the word, "euphoria", a noun which refers to a feeling or state of intense excitement and happiness, because I really do hope from the bottom of my heart that, that is what I would feel while blogging, and that is what you guys would feel while sharing these experiences with me.

So here in my first ever blog post, I welcome you guys and also myself, for this should be the start of a new journey for me. I'll be posting about things that I love such as books, calligraphy, art, movies, tv series, sports, beauty stuff, product reviews, travels, food, and life in general. I'll be posting anything and everything all together while enjoying myself and hoping you guys do too, while visiting my site.

Well I guess that's it for now.
